How Should We Measure Children's Mind and Abillities

Teacher, Parents and society compare a child's performance amongst their peers. This is something that I do not like at all. This method does not asset their talents, every student is different and every student learns different as well. When I was in school when it came to testing, everyone received scores back and we would also go over the scores and everyone would score differently in different areas and that is mostly because we all have different strengths. We also have different ways of expressing ourselves. For example on a written section it would be hard for every student to write the same essay, if so that would be consider cheating.

I also do not agree that no intelligence test should be influenced on experience or behavior!!!

IN FINLAND THINGS OPERATE LIKE THIS.......

There are no "mandated standardized tests in Finland, apart from one exam at the end of students’ senior year in high school". There are no rankings, no comparisons or competition between students, schools or regions. Finland’s schools are publicly funded. The people in the government agencies running them, from national officials to local authorities," are educators", not business people, military leaders or career politicians. Every school has the "same national goals and draws from the same pool of university-trained educators".

I think the US should definitely consider adopting some of Finland polices in hopes of making our education system stronger. When we compare students, we take away from their own way of learning and make it more competitive for the students. Finland also has educators that are in the office rather than just anyone.
